Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1: Head-Explodingly Manly

I’ve been meaning to read Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure for a while since it is pretty much THE legendary shounen manga. Especially seeing as it’s Andrew Cunningham’s favorite manga, and crowned by him as the manliest manga ever written. This is probably an understatement. All the universe’s concentrated manliness does not match up to Jojo. This series is, by far, the manliest creation of mankind’s history. Manlier than haggis. Manlier than Vikings and the Scottish combined. Manlier, perhaps, than even Odin. In the dictionary, ‘manliness’ should be defined as ‘a singel page of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Take a look here. This is a couple of pages from when Jojo’s team fights Jack the Ripper.

Yes people. This is the power beholden by even a minor villain. The fights in Jojo are beyond fucking amazing, replete with mad powers, ultra-violence, tons of casualties, and the craziest art ever. All of the cahracters are the size of trucks and they make the most awkward poses as they beat the shit out of each other in the most insane ways. And the power levels are off the charts. In one fight, a man continues to battle after he’s bee vertically cut in half. Fuck yes.

The dialog is pure madness. It’s a ton of fun to read. All of the characters are excellent. The evil ones are truly evil, the good ones burn with passion, and everyone has a great back story to earn your respect. Speedwagon is fucking hilairous. That guy rules. I think I can safely say that Jojo as a whole has the best fights in manga history. Nothing compares to this crazy shit. All in all, after only 5 volumes, this is already one of my favorites. It supposedly only gets better after part 1 so I highly look forward to reading more.

Go read Jojo’s Bizare Adventure. You won’t regret it. You can’t. It’s on a whole different level from anything else out there. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s just amazing. Everyone should read this damn manga.

  1. Hell yes! I’ve put it on hold at the start of part 4, but the best of this manga is just liquid haggis. And part 2 absolutely blows part 1 out of the water.
