More EDs! These ones missed the first list for one or more of these reasons: I forgot about them; I didn’t want to include two from the same show; I counted it as not awesome enough because I was being a lazy dick; I haven’t actually seen the anime it comes from but know the ED by reputation.
TO MAKE THIS LIST, if I can actually think of how the song or video goes, it’s got a good bet.
When a normal person sees a high-power-level collection, they will invariably remark on how you have ‘wasted a lot of money on this crap’, and a proper fan will usually reply that it ‘isn’t a waste.’ I wish I could say that, but the truth is that I own a few things that I truly regret buying. Organized, here, in order of how much I spent on this shit. Needless to say, they are all figures, and therefor I will depict each of them being raped by Funeral’s Krauser II Revoltech, a 25-dollar toy with more value than all the shit I’m carting out combined. Ugh. These are the mistakes of my youth.
‘Moe’. Moe, Moe, Moe. One of the most debated, debased, derogatory, yet delightful and potentially deadly terms of anime fandom. There are those who can’t wrap their heads around moe, or grasp it, or understand it, who think it’s a trend or a style or a visual phenomenon. There are those who try to pidegonhole moe, who try and categorize it as a genre, and who try to bash it or warp it. Now, I’ve done a lot of study on moe in the past. Moe helped me grasp my fandom when I almost lost it, I trained myself to learn more about it, and I published a definitive guide to breaking into it as a culture. However, if there is one thing I haven’t yet done, it’s to define moe. Saki has given me the confidence to do just that.
I feel like we’ve reached the final stretch of “100 Characters For 100 Otaku” as we enter the top 20! From this point on, the characters gain a very real importance to me. We’ve been on a steady incline of character importance, but now there’s a very steep jump into characters that I truly love. So let’s see what they have to offer! We’re rolling 20 down through 16!
It’s the halfway mark in “100 Characters For 100 Otaku!” Did you think we’d make it this far? This is certainly the biggest post series I’ve ever done in one time-span! But it’s still very exciting! Today we’ll have numbers 55 down through 51 and things continue to get even more exciting! Let’s see what’s in store!
(sorry that this post was so late, today was a really fucking insane day, but at least it’s out within the time limit!)
At first and maybe second glance, the Bamboo Blade character designs aren’t anything special. And they aren’t, really. Body-type wise, they are pretty much templates. The hairstyles are just the usual stuff with the usual strange colors. The faces reflect the personalities of the characters. In other words, it’s pretty standard anime fare. However, it is in some of those standards that Kawazoe Tamaki stands out.
So, the Winter season has come to an end and the Spring season has begun. I’ve covered some of the other winter shows that ended recently, so I’ve got a couple more as well as new beginnings. Namely season 2 of Code Fucking Geass!
Before that, though…
Hatenkou Yuugi comes to an end after 10 amazing episodes, never letting me down throughout it’s run. The ending leaves things wide open for continuation, though the direction things could go in are infinite, since the anime was pretty much random pieces of a 10-year-running 10-volume manga. I’ve already ordered the first two volumes of the manga, brought stateside under the name “Dazzle” and it’s sure to be a fun ride. My hopes for a second season are high since, as awesome as the show was, 10 episodes was hardly satiating. Like Jing, though, the series I compare it to most, it has a timeless unique quality that I can see myself coming back to for years.
Bamboo Blade had a beautiful ending, so that the last 4 eps were all something really special. for me this show is like Marimite (with less of a rocky start) in that it’s not necessarily a favorite, but it’s got lots of great characters and a well-paced fun story that you feel like you could watch forever. Second season FTW
And Finally, the one that’s gunna get my blog several hundred hits over the next 2 days XD
Code Geass R2 ep 1: Fucking nice! I had chills, man! haha! I find it funny how the first ep of S2 bore a striking resemblance to the first ep of S1, but in any case it surpassed it. The scene (you know the one) was just fucking perfect. Lelouche’s hand motions are incredible. Fuck, I want a gif of those hand motions! Animation was downright sick in this ep, and Kallen was hawt as ever, plus there was a C.C. boob shot : O Overall great start, even if it did exactly what everyone was scared of, suddenly skipping a year ahead and acting like nothing happened, but came back very well.
