I started off my J.C. Staff post by declaring them a “great” studio. I can’t say that about DEEN. Whereas J.C. Staff has shows that look good even if they suck, DEEN has shows that look like shit even if they’re good. Yet, while I could jump to the conclusion that this makes them a failure as a studio (in cases of adaptions, what good does it do if you don’t supply the most important thing—animation!?), the truth is that DEEN has a lot of good shows, regardless of their failings in animation. The studio even has a number of things going for it that only through watching a lot of their shows would you start to realize are definitive trademarks.
The “100 Characters For 100 Otaku” series continues! You know, it’s almost easy to forget that this post series is still a part of the larger “Don’t Fuck This Up” post series. I’m definitely putting my effort into trying not to fuck up, so be sure to call me out at every potential problem, and I’ll edit it right up! Meanwhile, today we have numbers 40 down through 36. Let’s see what they are made of!
Are you enjoying the time of “100 Characters For 100 Otaku?” We’ve come a long way, but there’s still a lot more to go! As we wind down, I reflect on shows that have had a character in the beginning, those who have had consistent characters in the list, and those that have yet to arrive. If you’re wondering where someone is, don’t worry – they may be on the way! Now, let’s see what 45 down through 41 have to offer!
Have you been following “100 Characters For 100 Otaku?” It’s the post series where I go through my top 100 characters and tell you what I like about them, how they mirror the nature of otaku, how they reflect my own otakudom, and how they parallel the first episode of Crest of the Stars! Make sure you keep up, so that you may see how YOUR favorite characters could fall into all this mess! Today’s piece is 75 through 71, so let’s see what we’ve got!
Every blog needs a Mai Waifu post, and ever since Ghostlightning delivered one of the best I’ve read a couple months ago, I’ve been wanting to do my own. I wanted to make sure it was a very perfect and specific post. Not just about women I find attractive (would take millions of words) but true women that I really think would make good wives. I know I’ll have fun with this, so lets roll!
After two and a half weeks of nonstop marathoning, I finally finished Ranma 1/2!!! I honestly can’t even remember what life was like before I started Ranma. It feels like I’ve been watching it forever. Before Ranma, I had never watched more than 60 episodes of the same show, and I made the enormous leap into watching 161 episodes of Ranma. I have about a quarter of a million posts that I want to do for Ranma, including a review that will come soon. However, to be sure that that review doesn’t exceed 8,000 words (it will) I want to get out some of the stuff about this show from my system. So let’s begin!
The recent fanart debate reminded me of my long-standing desire to fill my site with original artwork. However, I can’t draw worth a half of a shit. I don’t mind trying to draw some of the site’s imagery, but for my banner image, I’d like it to be done by someone with talent. So, if you have that, please help me out!
